Trading Secrets
November 30th, 2018
We don’t really like to think of ourselves as a business here at Matse HQ, as there’s definitely no 3 piece suits or briefcases. Our main goal since the beginning, has always be to provide the right Matse for each individual customer and now, thanks to all the changes we’ve made, we can also offer in larger quantities. This means that if you own multiple properties, whether they be buy to lets or holiday lets, the Matse is now ready and waiting to make the most of your unused space.

Cool Blue
August 12th, 2018
A sweltering hot July has now rolled over into what's set to be a scorching hot August, if the met office predictions are to be believed. So, as Fans in bedrooms and offices across the nation continue to circulate hot air at us and as ice creams disappear at lightning speed from the supermarkets shelves we decided to dedicate this months blog to all things cool, more specifically Cool Blue.
Think deep oceans, icicles, clear, crisp winter skies, tranquil seas, still canals and crystal clear lakes, or even bright blue bubblegum ice pops from years gone by.
Whatever shade takes [..]

Pour Homme, Pour Home
June 15th, 2018
Hello, and Happy June.
6 months down, and only 6 months to go, until we’ll be ringing in 2019. But let’s stay firmly in the present, and speaking of presents…
With June the 17th fast approaching … what’s that? June 17th? What am I missing? These are all questions you might be asking yourself and if you didn’t know already the answer is Father’s Day! so don’t say we didn’t warn you.
But the good news is, with 2 days left to go, you’ve still got time to find a card, pick out a present and buy [..]

Ultra Violet
March 17th, 2018
2018 is going to be ULTRA VIOLET…well, at least according to the colour experts at Pantone.
2018 is set to be all about this divisive colour. Love it or hate it, purple knows how to make a bold and impactful statement in any room. Last year it was all about Greenery, with its soft, delicate and warming tones, but this year it’s time to embracing the deep, sensual and intergalactic qualities of Ultra Violet.
It seems far fetched to relate something as trivial as a colour to politics, but Ultra Violet is about being fearless, exploring the unknown and knowing [..]

One of the best things about the Matse is the range of adaptability options available, this means that if you want to buy for multiple properties, that have difficult proportions then we can accommodate. We’ve identified a few commercial areas where we feel [..]

Room on the Side
August 17th, 2017
So we're already in to August, and doesn't it seem like the year has just flown by? We have to admit it might be the middle of summer, but we are currently writing this whilst looking out across gunmetal grey skies, listening to the whooshing of the wind and the hammering of persistent rain on the roof.
So, less than ideal weather aside, this month we'd like to tell you all about our latest venture. What is it?, we hear you ask. Well, we have recently partnered with the lovely folks from Devon Timber Designs and KenMart Ltd.
KemMart have [..]

Wow, we honestly can't believe July is upon us and the summer is nearly well and truly underway, it seems like just yesterday we were packing up the Christmas decorations.
Firstly, we hope your June was filled with sunshine (there was a little too much for our liking) and you've got a summer filled with BBQ, picnic, & beach fun. But talking of summer, it tends to be the time of year when apart from Christmas, guests descend upon you, especially if like us you're lucky enough to live in the countryside or on the coast.

Weekend at The National Self Build & Renovation Centre Spring Summer/Show
June 4th, 2017
Hi everyone, we really can't believe we are already into June! Where has the time gone? May was a very busy month for us here at Matse, we are still working hard on the showroom and it's looking good (if we do say so ourselves) coming into the final stage of the renovation is always the most exciting as it's nearly time to step back and look at what you've achieved. But enough about the showroom, (for now) from the 19th-21st of May we waved goodbye to Devon and headed to the National Self Build and Renovation centre (NSBRC), [..]

The Big Sleep
March 4th, 2017
Sleep. We all do it, we all need it but how many of us are doing it well?
More than anything else in the modern world Sleep seems to be tricky, elusive and complex.
Here at Matse we take Sleep seriously, it's why our founder Chris has worked tirelessly to find the right mattress for the Matse.
After rigorous testing we decided on a 240mm deep Sealy mattress, which is DOUBLE the thickness of those you'd usually find on a standard sofa bed, it not only holds up as a seat but provides you with a comfortable night's sleep. If [..]

The Love List
January 31st, 2017
Hello there and welcome to our first 2017 Matse blog!
We hope you had a great Christmas/New Year and made it through January without breaking too many of those resolutions you made way back on the 1st.
We have to admit we're hopeless romantics here at Matse even if a little bit of cynicism sometimes tries to creep in, so in honour of February, the globally celebrated month of love, we’ve found some Home interior pieces that have got us falling head over heals for them. No matter your relationship status these beautiful bits and bobs are guaranteed to [..]

January 3rd, 2017
A belated Merry Christmas to you all and a Happy New Year.
We hope you all had a good Christmas season filled with love, joy, laughter and lots of presents.
2016 has been a tumultuous year politically and socially but we don't want to dwell on those issues, instead we'd like to take a nostalgic look back at what the last 12 months have been like here at Matse, and also how the next 12 are hopefully going to shape up.
First of all before we start, we'd like to say thank you to everyone who has supported us this last year. Whether [..]

Oh Christmas Tree

As November draws to a close and bonfire night seems like a lifetime ago, it's most definitely starting to feel a lot like Christmas. We can practically feel the festivity fizzing through our veins and thoughts of mince pies, carols, hot chocolate and most importantly Christmas trees fill our minds.
We love Christmas here at Matse & even have upholstery so red it would put Santas suit to shame + a green option that reminds us of a beautiful bavarian forest full of Christmas trees.
Now with the 1st of December on the horizon we thought it time we had a [..]

Autumn is well and truly upon us with the 31st of October only mere days away and before you know it Christmas will be here.
But let's stay in the present for a moment and appreciate all things Halloween. The costumes, fantasy, magic and most importantly the copious chocolate, sweets and confectionary goodies.
Here at Matse we don't think Halloween is something that should be confined to just one day a year, your home is a way for you to express and visualise your creativity just like Halloween, we're not saying go crazy with the severed limbs or a bubbling [..]

Showtember
September 30th, 2016
Ahhhh there's nothing like the slight colouring of the leaves and a crispness in the air that signals the start of Autumn. Usually this means slowing down and getting ready for hibernation, but we're gonna have to put that on hold as September or Showtember as we've renamed it has been a busy, enjoyable & rewarding month for Matse.
With 2 trade shows this month and The Big Green Home Show taking place next weekend (7-9th October) at The National Self Build & Renovation Centre it's been a great opportunity to showcase the Matse to a larger audience.

Let there be loft
April 21st, 2016
Hi there, it's time for another blog post. Today's post focuses on the humble loft conversion and how a Matse can help transform that newly acquired space. It doesn't take a property expert to tell you that finding an affordable home to buy isn't easy. This is especially true for first time buyers or even those who already own their own homes. Banks are reluctant to add to or even provide mortgages since the financial crisis, but in 2015 the Halifax Generation Rent survey found that 46% of home buyers were first timers.
Now if you've been lucky enough to find your [..]

The Princess and the Matse
April 10th, 2016
Here at Matse we believe that the most important aspect of any bed is how comfortable it feels. An uncomfortable bed can severely affect the quality of your sleep. A 2011 poll by the National Sleep Foundation found that 92 percent of people say a comfortable mattress is important to a good night’s sleep.
Matse comes with a full sized and full thickness mattress so you can literally rest assured that your sleep won't be compromised whether you are investing in a Matse for your guests or as a permanent sleep solution for yourself.
Everyone can relate to sleeping on a [..]

Hideaway Beds From Matse
March 20th, 2016
Are you looking for a hideaway bed to make the most of the space you have? Then look no further than the Matse, a hideaway bed with a difference. Unlike most existing hideaway beds the Matse does not use any complicated or dangerous folding spring mechanisms and so is able to be used by people of all ages and abilities.
Because the Matse does not use any folding parts it means there is no compromise on mattress quality, the Matse uses a traditional mattress on a sprung slat bed frame. This means that unlike most hideaway beds, which have to [..]

Pull Out Bed Alternative Locations
December 22nd, 2015
The Matse stands alone as a full spec bed, which converts, to a comfortable sofa.
The Matse may only be used as an occasional bed but why compromise your high standards with an awkward to use substandard bed settee. This is a pullout bed that can deliver comfort, style and quality. Unlike foldaway beds we utilize a standard slatted bed frame and traditional mattress.
You may have seen the Matse advertised as a pullout bed from under eave spaces, however this need not be the only way it can be used. It is totally adaptable for use where the back [..]

Why Choose Our Stowaway Beds?
December 22nd, 2015
Finding extra space can be essential at this time of year and you would be forgiven for thinking a traditional stowaway or foldaway bed may be the only option. For years these have been the only options, but at best they provide a flimsy mattress and often feature dangerous or complicated mechanisms in order to become a bed.
At last however there is a more comfortable and practical solution. The Matse is more than just a traditional stowaway bed; it provides two pieces of useable furniture. Whilst a standard stowaway bed simply provides an extra bed from beneath an existing [..]

What is the Matse?
December 6th, 2015
The Matse is a comfortable, practical solution to the uncomfortable folding bed problem. The Matse differs from traditional folding beds in that it has no folding parts, rather it uses a sliding mechanism for ease and safety. When the Matse is stowed away it creates a casual settee, available in a range of upholstery options. When pulled out the bed is revealed, featuring a full spec mattress on a sprung bed frame as opposed to the thin folding mattresses found on folding beds.
By using the end of the mattress recommended by Matse, which is suitable for seating use, to [..]
